đź’§You could qualify for psilocybin therapy, study suggests

PLUS, Berlin clinic offers support to those after challenging trips

Welcome back to The Drop In, DoubleBlind’s psychedelic news and culture dispatch. It’s Monday, a day of the week Morning People are more inclined to appreciate than Night Owls. It is a day wrapped in the push and pull of inspiration and dread, yet undeniably symbolic of fresh starts. We hope you grab this week by the hongos and make it magical.

Our featured story this week dives into a study that breaks down some jaw-dropping (albeit theoretical) numbers on how many Americans are currently in treatment for depression — and how widespread the application of psilocybin therapy could be should it receive FDA approval. Of course, psilocybin therapy for the masses hinges on making it financially accessible (and legal), but we digress…You can read that story below!

You can also find stories about a clinic in Berlin providing support for difficult psychedelic experiences, iconic LSD quotes, how to work with San Pedro, and microdosing LSA. You can also find links to mushroom retreats and an opportunity to engage with the Noke Koî’s, guardians of the Amazon Rainforest, rich cultural heritage.

Enjoy the brain food 🌍🍄,

Millions of Americans May Qualify for Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy, Study Finds

Over half of Americans currently receiving treatment for depression could be eligible for psilocybin-assisted therapy, signaling the potential for a massive mental healthcare market.

A new study looked into how many people might turn to psilocybin therapy for depression if it gets the FDA's green light.

Led by researchers from Emory University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and UC-Berkeley, the peer-reviewed study found that more than half of Americans currently getting treated for depression could be candidates for psilocybin-assisted therapy. That’s around 5.1 to 5.6 million people who could potentially benefit from these medical mushrooms.
